“Found” Scriptures

I love the fact that I can be reading along in the scriptures and then “BAM!” get hit with a new scripture.  I understand the meaning for the first time, or I understand it in more depth.  I wonder when the new verses were added to my book! I like to call these found scriptures, as in “hey, look what I just found!”

Here are a couple that I found within the past week –

“For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the Lord that hath mercy on thee.”

Isaiah 54:10

I love the reassurance to those that love God.

“For the kingdom of the devil must shake, and they which belong to it must needs be stirred up unto repentance, or the devil will grasp them with his everlasting chains, and they be stirred up to anger, and perish;”

2 Nephi 28:19

Isn’t it amazing that the Lord understands human nature so well.  He wants to shake things up at the Last day (hurricanes, earthquakes, tornadoes, etc.) so that people will remember Him. Otherwise, he knows that if they are full of anger (about God, the gospel, etc) they have no room for a being of love and stand to be lost at Judgement day.

Many have stated –  “if you wish to talk to God, you pray and if you wish God to talk to you, you open your scriptures.” I know that I have found direct answers and help from the Lord through quiet scripture meditation coupled with prayer.  I know that not only does God speak to His children – He desires that communication as well!  Doctrine and Covenants 88:63; Matt. 11:28-30
